Wiggins, MS to Pascagoula, MS
4/21/18
New day....New attitude! It was 53 degrees this morning when we left Wiggins for our 68 mile ride to Pascagoula. We started on a busy road for 7 miles. We turned onto a country road that led us through the De Soto National Forest. The ride was beautiful except for the headwinds. I kept checking my brake to see if it was rubbing because I was going so slow. Nope it was just the headwind. Our first SAG stop was at 19 miles and our second was at 38 miles.
We went through Gautier, MS. There was no shoulder and the traffic was heavy. We then had 8 miles left and two bridges to go over. The first was over the Singing River and the second was over the Pascagoula River. The second bridge was a high rise bridge. I arrived at the hotel at 12:40. I enjoyed a steak and some fried green tomatoes for lunch.
My quads still hurt today. I think I am not getting enough protein or I am dehydrated or both. I stretched really good and took an Epson salt bath to ease the soreness in my muscles. I am hoping they feel better tomorrow.
This is our last day in Mississippi. We are on the final count down of 11 days tomorrow. We ride tomorrow and then get a day off and then we will ride 9 days straight until we reach St. Augustine, FL on May 2nd.
Total Miles: 2532
Flats: 4
Ruined Tires: 1
