Vanderpool, TX to Fredericksburg, TX

4/5/18

We left Vanderpool this morning at 7:30 to start the 79 miles to Fredericksburg.  We had a mile to warm up before our first big climb. Once at the top there were some gentle rollers and some not so gentle but all were fun to ride in the cool temperature.  I saw elk, wild turkeys, and deer today. At mile 29.5 we hit the half way point for the Southern Tier. It is exciting to know that we are half way done! We rode through some beautiful country today. Especially around the town of Hunt. I think we crossed the Guadalupe River at least 7 times. I never knew that Texas looked like this! Beautiful! We went on a country road that I think only one car passed me in an hour and a half.  Anna and I rode the last 10 miles in to Fredericksburg and arrived at the motel at around 2.
Rudy went to the bike shop for a mid-ride checkup and a new tire.  I picked up some new gloves, water bottle and chamois cream.
Tomorrow is a much needed day off after 7 straight days of riding.
