Pascagoula< MS to Dauphin Island, AL

4/22/18

We left the hotel at 7:00 with the idea of beating the thunderstorms. We made it to the Alabama state line and took pictures. We had a SAG stop at 21 miles. At 23miles it started to rain. We pushed on towards Dauphin Island. The headwind was strong. The rain stopped about 6 miles from our destination. We still had a big bridge to go over. As I approached it I was going slow because of the wind.  Climbing over it I was in my easiest gear. I kept my head down and held tight to the drops. When I finally crested the top I thought I would be able to coast down the other side. The wind was so strong that I had to pedal hard just to make it down. We arrived on Dauphin Island at 10:20. we went to a diner to get something to eat because our condos weren't ready yet.
What a beautiful place this is and had it not been for the weather it would have been a beautiful ride.  I definitely would come back here! Tomorrow is a day off for us to rest and and enjoy this beautiful island. Then it is nine days and we will be in St. Augustine!
