Lake Charles, LA to Lafayette, LA

4/15/18

This morning was 45 degrees when we left Lake Charles at 7:30. The 82 mile day to Lafayette was helped by a good tailwind. The flooded fields of crawfish farms and rice crops lined the roads. The flat, smooth roads of Louisiana are a welcomed change from what we have been riding on in Texas.
I did use the air horn today to scare off a dog.  It worked! Another rider wasn't so lucky and ran into a dog and flipped her bike. Luckily she was alright and the bike was good too.
The SAG stops were at 20, 42 and 60 miles but I missed the 60 mile because I was ahead of it. When I got to town some high school kids were doing a fund raiser for their FFA group. So some of us stopped and bought a Po'boy from them. I arrived at the hotel at 1:10.
Tomorrow is 99 miles to St. Francisville and then a day off.

Total Miles: 2144

  1. What kind of Po'boy was it and when they asked if you wanted it dressed did you have to ask what that meant? Welcome to LA!

    1. It was a spicy sausage one. They didn’t ask if I wanted it dressed. I did try crawfish though!
