Brackettville, TX to Camp Wood, TX
4/3/18
This morning was warm out when we had breakfast in Brackettville. It was suppose to get in the high 80's today. We left at 7:40 for our 48 mile trip to Camp Wood, TX. We are now riding in to Texas Hill Country. It is very beautiful and a nice change from the plains and desert. The scenery was green and lush and the hills were gentle rollers. We had a slight sprinkle of rain that felt good while riding. I enjoyed today's ride. I arrive at the motel at noon and then went across the street to a diner for lunch. Afterwards Trudy and I went to a local swimming hole for a quick dip. The water was so clear and it felt refreshing when we jumped in.
It's a small world story.......Today at the first SAG stop I was getting ready to leave and a pickup pulls up. A man inside asks if we are riding bike across country. We told him yes. He then asked if one of the riders was from Baker, Montana. I said "Yes! I am from Baker, Montana" He introduced himself as Kurt Lemp. He used to live in Baker. He now lives in this area. We discussed people we knew in common and how he knew about me riding. He had seen part of an article on the Fallon County Times FB page. He just happen to be down this road and see the Woman Tours car and bikers. He gave us some of his Ranch Candies peanuts that he makes himself and we took a photo together. What a small world! The reaches of little ole Baker, Montana! Amazing!
Total Miles: 1484
Flats: 3
Ruined Tires: 1
