Las Cruses, NM to El Paso, TX
3/25/18
Today we entered a new state.....Texas! We will be in Texas for almost 3 weeks. The day was like two different rides. The beginning started at 7:00 with a nice crisp morning. We pedaled along at 17 mph. The flooded pecan groves lined each side of the road. Our first SAG was at 20 miles. We left there for the state line at 27.9 miles.
We only knew it was the state line because our GPS said it and the road maintenance changed. There is not a "Entering Texas" sign. Our guides made up little signs for us to use. We then moved on to a bike path that ran along side the Rio Grande. This was such a pleasurable part of the ride!
After we got off the path at mile 37 our SAG was waiting for us. From this point the ride became a 20 mile maze of turns through El Paso's busy streets. It took patience to get to the hotel. We finished off the 58 mile day at 12:10.
Total Miles: 967
Flats: 3
Ruined Tire: 1
