It's Almost Time!

I can't believe its almost time to leave for my big adventure! It has been a long time in the planning but now seems like it has gone by quickly.
My February training ended with about 700 miles (all indoor trainer miles). I backed off a little on my training the last two weeks and enjoyed more family time. My bike shipped on Monday and has arrived in San Diego.  I am packed and did make it under the 50 lbs limit.  And, most importantly, my taxes are done!!!
I want to thank my family, especially Dennis, for covering all my work duties and taking care of my horses while I will be gone. Without my family's help this adventure wouldn't be possible.
I would also like to thank my Iowa girls for coming to Deadwood to spend time with me before I leave and my other friends for the well wishes, coffee and gifts. You all know how to make a girl feel special!
Many people have asked me if I am nervous. Not yet! I am actually pretty calm. I think it doesn't quite feel real yet. It will probably hit me when I get to San Diego.  There is one thing that I do know for sure, that as overwhelming as the mileage and hills may seem, the hardest part of this ride will be being away from my family for that long.
