January Training
January's training ended with 935 total miles: 915 indoor trainer miles, 20 outside miles and 7 days cross training. I did feel good when riding outside. It was so nice to be riding out in the open! Although the temperature was only 36 degrees when we started riding. I did notice that my core muscles weren't as strong as they normally are when training outside. Riding on the trainer doesn't allow for me to have to use them for balancing. I am sure it will only take a day or two to get them to kick in.
I am trying to get things in line for me to be gone for 2 months. Taxes, the biggest pressure I am feeling now, need to get done. I am trying to pack to get my luggage to the 50 lb total weight limit. How do I pack for 2 months and limit myself to 50lbs?!?! My biking gear and supplements are probably 25lbs! I am sure I will figure it out.
Do I think I am ready? I don't know. I have never trained for a ride this big before and, honestly, I don't know if anyone ever knows if they trained enough until they actually start the ride. The thing I will keep in mind is that this is a ride, a journey, an experience, not a race.

Sherry,
ReplyDeleteYou are ready. 935 miles for the month is insane for training.
The first couple of weeks will be training anyway, getting in the grove of daily long distance riding. After the first couple of weeks every day will be easy.
50 lbs is not a lot of stuff to be taking, but then again, you really don't need a lot. I was at 56lbs when I did my cross country and I know about 15 lbs of stuff I wish I would have left at home.
Evin
Thank you for the encouraging words.
